Chang Jing, one of China’s most exceptional Guzheng virtuosos Guzheng musician and Flute musician Zhang Di was invited by Meet Culture to Greece in Oct, 2015, for a historical music journey in Greece entitled “Sound of Silk”. Chang Jing captivated the attention of the world with the beautiful melody of Guzheng, an ancient stringed instrument, as the soloist in the Opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She also performed together with the famous Greek musician Yanni in 2013 CCTV Spring Festival Gala with an audience of 700 million.
The two Chinese musicians, together with the ancient Greek Lyre band Lyre ’n’ Rhapsody, recorded the first ever Chinese-Greek crossover album “AEGEAN” . Most of the pieces are improvisations and some inspired by ancient melodies. The recording of this album was like the meeting between the two ancient civilizations in a modern dialogue that has been awaited for a long time. Furthermore, they also had two concerts in Athens and Santorini during which they cooperated with Lyre ’n’ Rhapsody and the famous Cretan Lyre virtuoso Ross Daly.
The music video of Golden Mist, the hit song of this album “AEGEAN”, is now being released in both China and Greece. The album will be published in China, Greece and rest of the world in early 2016.
